This is my transcription of a video about Photoshop Cs4. I tried to do my best but there are always some blanks. I put some words into brackets because I wasn't sure if they were right or not.
Photoshop cs4
Video transcription :
Hi, my name is Richard Harrington and welcome to this edition on photoshop cs4 sneak peek.
Today, we will take a look at some of the new features inside of photoshop cs4
Now (we’ll gonna) start with the user interface. When you launch cs4 it’s gonna look significally different. Now, these differences (could) take a while (after) you used to,
but I found after using it for a bit it’s much faster. Let’s take a look at some of the cool new things inside of the latest version of photoshop. Now, when you launch photoshop, you (gonna) know
this that there are no longer pallets. Everything is switch to a take-out tab based and these are know actually panels. So things they () quite clearly together. And as you change workspaces
window workspace you’ll see that the different tools will come up for the particulary task that you’re working on. Now you can also use this workspaces for a (handing many year) opening upper
Right corner. And these a () you can switch. The first three here are really gonna change how photoshop presents the information. The essential is the workspace that you will use most of the time
and this shows you everything in photoshop and gives you the Most commonly used panels by the (fault/fact). The basic workspace is very limited and actually hide several elements from the menus
For example you choose the basic workspace (Cmo key) actually goes missing for the MH mode. Now you can always choose to see these elements again, but basic is really just that for a basic user
who is looking the simplified the photoshop interface.
The last options you’ll see there is what’s new in cs4?
And when you choose this option, you don’t actually change several elements of the menu.
You know this that thing are actually color coated and everything that you see in blue is indicating that the feature is new or updated. So this is a great way to actually
discover what’s new in cs4. Now, I’m go ahead in Switch back to the essential workspace so we are using the default workspace. The other workspaces that I listed (double o) offer particularly
tasks. The storage magnify the menus but do change which panels you see. So for example if I wanna do color correction I’ll just choose color and tone and you’ll see that certain panels become
available.
This new workspaces are really tasks based so if you’re working in video, choose the video workspace. If you’ll gonna be doing some proofing, choose proofing, and painting,
etcetera
These are there to make it easier to call up just the tools you gonna need for a particular job.
Now as you’re working with it, you’ll discover some new things that had happened. Photoshop cs4 really takes advantages of open gl. So if you’ve got a powerful graphics card,
you’ll gonna see some cool things happening. One of these things is canvas rotation. Now, long time users are used to want to press the r key, the table tool slant. Not anymore. You know get the
rotation tool, which allows you to actually rotate your view.
As I click here, you’ll see that you can turn the canvas, and a new compass is indicating which way you are looking. Now, you may/might be say, why would I turn the
canvas?
Now, this makes it a lot easier if you’re using a tablet, you wanna paint, or you’re (tried) a really () particular area and you find yourself turn(ing) your (riss) on
comfortably
The rotate canvas option is really just that, you can turn the canvas and hold your mouse in (the normal) way you are working, and it’s quite useful. But if you wanna go back
to a normal view just go ahead and click the reset view and it actually go ahead and square back up. So, very straight off.
Zooming is also change so we can go ahead and select the zoom tool, press Z for zoom and if you click it continues to zoom in on image. Now, one of thing you note is as you use
the hand tool is that you can still drag around. But if you grab and drag, the pixels actually freely floats, like () image.
This is very natural. When using tools like the hand tool, and magnification, you can actually float the image and throw around the canvas as you’re working. This is nice
instead of clicking and dragging repeatedly you just click, wind up and throwing and let it float to the place that you want. Simply click again and () actually stop overtime virtual gravity will
do the job. This works quite nicely.
Another thing you note if as you zoom in it’s once ago above six hundred percent you actually start to see a pixel grid and you see it quite well here.
This (wind/whide) don’t (prend) but what the useful for(m) is as you are doing cloning or really try simple exact color this helps you to spot that color and really
zooming/zoning on it
So what’s the (magnification) () goes above six hundred percent you can actually go riding near and click this. Now as you continue zoom you know this actually zoom farther
right now in fact photoshop now supports zoom level of upped to three thousand two hundred percent. You see right here we have () change zoom level right inside the options bar as well. So all
(along match is) dezoom and get around that image as you navigate. Now your panels here are very flexible. If you want, you can go ahead and (take) things off and () come free and this is
actually free floated.
If you wanna (dot?) something back with it just drag in on top until it turns blue and release. You’ll see that they (dot?) together.
Simply going back in choosing a new preset for workspace will (rearrange) your panels back to the default values. If you decide you want more room you can go ahead and (dot) to
(elements) together and know this the entire user interface adapts intelligently. This is really useful. Along this (fact?) we can actually rearrange several windows. If you have a lot of
documents open, you can start enjoying them together in the tasks. Let’s go ahead here and choose window and select a particular document switch to up. You see we’ve got that. But if you have
several files open, you can get inconvenient. One quickly the switch is just to command tiller a lot of switching between opened documents. That’s nice but you can also see all your documents in
one time.
If you go ahead up to the options bar here, you know this that we have a new bar near called arrange documents. This does just that. Let’s you take notable open documents and
arrange them on screen. I go and click and actually choose different sorts of styles here.
We have () we cancelled all and if I choose that pose (element) to one documented here
Let’s go and press F in circular forescreen notes and you see right there that the documents are (cancelled/consolidated?). If you want to, we can also say let’s go to a for-up
view and it would actually arrange the windows into a for-up arrangement. We go ahead and choose float all in windows and with some of the () documents we can then choose options like here the ()
for-up. Know this that the documents intelligently rearrange. We see a first document here and any others are (nested) together with tabs. If you want we can go ahead and choose to consolidate
this all into one window with consolidate all and you see that quickly takes all open documents and puts them () tabs across the top. This is useful because () on (corner). () switch back and
(for) between several windows you can simply have one window visible and consolidate them all into a single document. Click the green or expand button there and () actually field the all screen;
this makes it really easy to just work in photoshop, without having a worry about your desk toper (desk-upper?) other things double o. Now, one last thing that I like are spread loaded keys. This
works pretty well. Let’s say you have the brush tool selected and you are starting to brush; and you say “oh hem () brush ( like () (upper). If I just hold the I key down, it switches to the high
(upper/dropper) and when I release this actually switches right back to the brush tool. So, that’s a little bit of a change. In the past you press the I key in switch to the tool and I have to
press B to switch back to the brush. But right now we have spread loaded keys. So let’s say you’re in the middle of making a selection with the marker tool and you decided that before you made
that selection here, we’ve got a selection () you wanna do a little change like rotate the canvas. No big deal, I can hold down the R key and choose to the rotate canvas command and when I
release, () cause right back to the marker tool.
